Number porting is the process for moving a telephone number from your current phone company to BayLink.
Can any phone number be ported?
Almost all phone numbers can be ported including phone and fax landlines, cell phone numbers and phone numbers provided by services such as Google Voice. Pager phone numbers are not portable. BayLink verifies the portability of your phone number before submitting a port order.
Is there any charge to port a phone number to BayLink?
There is no charge to port a number to BayLink. Like all new services there is a $15 one time activation fee to start a new service with BayLink.
How long does it take to port a number?
Typically it takes 7 to 10 business days from the date a port order is submitted.
How will I know when my number will be ported?
Once the phone companies have confirmed the transfer date, BayLink will notify you by email.
When should I cancel service with my current phone company?
DO NOT CANCEL SERVICE. If you cancel service before the port is completed, your current phone company will not release the number. Once the number has been ported, your phone company will sent you a final bill and close your account.
Will my number be out of service while waiting for the port?
Your number remains active with your phone company until the actual port happens. Your BayLink account will be pre-configured to provide service when the transfer is completed. Your phone number will only be out of service for a few minutes while the actual transfer is completed.
Can a ported number be used with any BayLink service?
Any BayLink service can be activated with a ported number.
If I "port-in" a phone number to BayLink can I "port-out" the same number in the future?
Yes, BayLink does not block number port outs. There is no charge for port outs.
What information is required to submit a port order?
Please use the online order form to submit a port order. You will need the most current invoice from your phone company.
Can multiple phone numbers be moved with one port order?
